“just posting a name of a guy that no one knows anything about “
You can’t be serious.
I am serious, we know who he is of course as far as him being an army general, but we don’t know anything related to making him president.
Read my post again, “Then you should have posted something about the Generals politics, just posting a name of a guy that no one knows anything about and asking if we should make this guy president, seems like an especially senseless vanity.”
Who is the guy as far as politics goes, what are you going to answer with, his army record?
You might know his name was floated as a possible VP for McCain who insisted that his VP not be a supporter of abortion rights. Besides, his name has been among favorites of key conservative organizations like the Heritage Organization and NRO. The full range of the political stances of military leaders are telegraphed only as time goes by and incrementally at this as was the case with Colin Powell. The post was made to provoke a discussion.
As you can see the thread didn’t generate anything useful, just posting a name, with no information or explanation wasn’t enough.
“His military record makes me hopeful; a liberal would not have lasted this long in the military.”
Your statement is generally true, but there have been some notable exceptions. Admiral William Crowe was a big Clinton supporter; General Wesley Clark is a flaming liberal; even John Glenn was a Democrat. Probably a few more who’s names escape me at the moment.
