Bettman saved the greedy owners and players from themselves, imo.
Expansion wasn’t created by Bettman - in his bloodless corporate way, he has tried to make it work. I give him credit for the salary cap and resulting better competitive atmosphere, and also for the comprehensive rule changes that sped the game up.
I would like to see a couple or three of the weaker US franchises move to Canada but it’s not my money on the line, and this is not a perfect world.
