Interesting video taken from the front of a streetcar traveling down Market St. in San Francisco, just a few days before the earthquake.
I had no idea they had video back then
ping
Dang! They had some crazy drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists even back then.
Not much for traffic control at the time, were they? It’s amazing how many automobiles there were, their being about a decade in existence in America.
Those people would probably be freaking disgusted by what is going on in San Francisco today. Drug use, open homosexuality etc.
Wow and I thought today’s commute was crazy
Everything is so clean and orderly. It is also very bright and sunny. I can’t think of a time I have walked down Market St where it is not disgustingly dirty and dark.
There’s a surreal feeling to this footage, almost like it was choreographed. Must be the music.
I had no idea that the automibles had right-hand drive back then. Or maybe the film was “flopped.”
Fascinating film. Very minimalistic.
It was the beta version of BetaMax.
Really neat to watch, thanks.
Taken just four days before the earthquake.
Leaves an ominous feeling.
Of course back then, there was a problem with horse manure on the street. Now thanks, in part, to the commies running the city and their enforced “tolerance” of allowing “street people” and beggars to wander around and sleep anywhere they want, it’s no longer horse manure that’s a problem. Now, crap on the streets and sidewalks come from the “homeless”.
I guess their cell phones w/video capability were more advanced than we realized.
It’s not nice to taunt death like that, considering what happened four days later.
Anybody else notice how few women are in the film. They must have been sleeping in late. Or barefoot. And maybe pregnant.
Well with the horse drawn carriages they had shovel ready jobs
The best part, not a drag queen in sight.
Something to think about, freedom looks awfully close to anarchy doesn’t it? It looks like there were a minimal amount of rules, no jaywalking, U-turns at your leisure, drive without regard to lanes etc.
