I think its clear that Carroll is getting the hell out of Dodge before USC gets hit with all sorts of penalties for NCAA violations surrounding the Reggie Bush investigation. I don't believe its a coincidence:

don’t expect anything soon.

If he leaves, it's because he knows the fan is about to be hit, and getting out as his program is about to get in trouble by taking a great paying job to go to is too good to pass up.........
