A significant part of the Finn’s success against the Red Army was due to the marksmanship skills of a Finnish soldier/sniper named Simo Häyhä. His is an incredible story of bravery and dedication.

PS - Mr. Häyhä recorded 500 kills in 100 days. His streak ended when he got shot in the face. he did not get out of the hospital until the day the Finns finally surrendered.

A minor correction, also. He was a member of the Finnish “Civil Guard”, so I guess technically he was “militia”, not a regular army soldier.
