Is anyone else been having problems with Firefox freezing up on them? not shutting down? not responding?
I remember when I first started using Firefox, it ran rock solid. I happilynupdated to newer versions when they became availiable. But over the last handful of versions, i've found that it has been freezing up and not reponding, with an increasing frequency. And with each new vwersion, it's mostly bug and security fixes.. but I just loaded up thne newest version today, and in less than a hour, I found myself, one again, having to use the task manager to shut the non responding Firefox prg down.
Is anyone else expiriencing this?
An off the wall question. Any chance your wife listens to Rush Limbaugh on WABCs streaming app, and you don’t?
That's normally indicative of a program that has a lot of its code/data swapped out. It could very well also be that you have the setting checked to clear your cache/history on shutdown. You probably notice a fair amount of disk activity when it's shutting down because it's busy cleaning up after itself.
I've had a couple of very large programs that take a while to shut down on my box because they really have to do a lot of work before everything fully unloads. I could probably speed things up by enabling lazy writes, but I prefer not to do that.
Bill Gates must have had his guys work on it.
Can you speak to Vishnu?
I doubt it. She’s mostly on in the evenings making fliers for her business, and she’ll be surfing for news or research, or she’ll be looking for photos to use in the fliers.
One of the things about Firefox that’s driving me crazy is how it sometimes crashes when I’m running SmoothText (on Windows 2000). It’s the ONLY app that crsshes when SmoothText is running, and it seems to happen completely at random. There must be something in Firefox’s text rendering code that’s especially fragile.
Didn’t know those Indian guys liked their spaghetti so much. (Last four guys on each side)
The only problems I have with it are the fact that when I close out of it, then get back into it, it goes to the page I last visited and not home page. For the life of me I can’t figure out why it does that. It’s set to boot up to my homepage too. Weird.
I’m using Camino on a G5 iMac and FRee Republic is the only site that is Sloooow to respond but no freezeups...
Not just history and cache clearing. If you completely reset it, it will get better for a while. But it’s never as good as the fresh install.
Firefox works just fine for me and I have been using it for years and years. Sounds like you might have picked up a virus somewhere.
Only started doing this a few weeks (months?) ago.
