Richard Kimball's post describes what the injury may have been pretty well, so he could very well have been hurt. The nerve damage possibility explanation sounds like a reason not to play. He moved the arm after the hit so he could move the arm though. Just don't understand the injury, but I know I am not a doctor.

Anything not impossible I view as a possibility.

His arm had no feeling (i.e., nerve damage). It was not paralyzed...he could move it. He tried to throw the ball while he was in the locker room to his Dad and had no control over where the ball went. So, a quarterback with no control of the ball would be of very little good in the game. The team doctors and trainers did not clear him to go back into the game. People can speculate all they want to.
