ABC insiders may soon want to tell President Obama to get "Lost."
The White House is finalizing plans for this year's State of the Union address and is said to be mulling two dates for the speech, according to a person familiar with the matter: Jan. 26 and Feb. 2.
So what's wrong with that? Well, Jan. 26 would mean an interruption of "American Idol" -- though Fox likely planned for that (or would simply tell the White House to take a hike, as it has before).
But Feb. 2? Other than the fact that it's a holiday (Groundhog's Day/TV MoJoe's birthday), that's the date ABC months ago staked out for the premiere of the final season of "Lost."
Yeah, right. We know.
The White House has already royally peeved the broadcast networks by scheduling so many primetime news conferences and speeches during President Obama's first year in office.
But forcing ABC to move "Lost"? Such a move could make the Tea Party protesters look like flies.
It could make the wrath of Rush and Drudge look pathetic.
Plus, it would be really bad Dharma. (Sorry, couldn't resist).
The good news, according to sources, is that the White House hasn't decided to press the button on the Feb. 2 idea. No doubt ABC has made its displeasure with the date very clear.
After all, it's not like the network hasn't been airing promos for the Feb. 2 date every three seconds since November.
"Lost" fans may already be mobilizing to halt this madness. Particularly since logic would suggest ABC would be forced to move back the "Lost" premiere until Feb. 9 -- forcing fans to wait another week for answers.
One Twitter fan (and apparent "Lost" lover) has already started a hashtag urging #NoStateofUnionFeb2.

“. . . wait another week for answers. . .”
Huh? Answers??
Lost+answers=oxymoron
Lost, much as I enjoy it, only piles questions on top of other questions. I can’t imagine true answers, even in the final season.
ha ha, the more you watch the more questions you have!
Idol is on Fox, well known extremist right wing network.
Lost is on ABC, fair and balanced obama leghumpers.
The choice is obvious.
The only show I watch on Fox is 24 and Lost is the only other network show I watch. Have you ever seen it?
I don’t GAS what day Øbozo bloviates, I’ll be busy rearranging my sock drawer.
I don’t watch either, though 24 I would like to. Just can’t keep up with episodic tv.
I was totally hooked on “Lost” right up to the point that they decided to make one of the characters (an Other) a homosexual. Then they had to make a point of his boyfriend kissing him on the cheek. Turned it off and never watched again.
Me neither—I rented the dvd’s for both shows after Hurricane Katrina when I had some time on my hands. (We weren’t allowed back in the city for over a month)
It is pure torture watching week to week. DVD’s are the way to go.
Lost is extremely high quality—it doesn’t seem like tv at all.
>>But Feb. 2? Other than the fact that it’s a holiday (Groundhog’s Day/
My 48th birthday. And somehow I get the idea when I wake up the next day I’ll still be waking up at the bed and breakfast in Punxatawney, heading to the coffeeshop then to a live shot at Gobbler’s knob.Watch that first step...it’s...a...doozy!
(Really is my bday)
It was a joke because the fans bombarded the writers after Tom (the other) commented that Kate wasn’t his type.
The fans said there was no way to explain that and it was meant as an inside joke.
Have fun with that!
Thanks for the explanation, but I still don’t see the humor.
That was all there was to it. They never referred to it again and it was very low key. The joke was that how could Kate not be any guys type unless they were gay.
The writers read the message boards and thought it would be funny.
Why don’t you get the dvd’s you missed and give it another chance. It has a great “man of science” “man of faith” theme. Amost to the point of being biblical.
That would be perfect! P*ss off the rest of Americans who aren’t really paying attention until you prempt their favoorite show!
An Obama speech every day, over and over and over again...
I really dislike this paper-hanging SOB that the idiot clan of American citizens elected.
That’s what our lives feel like every day anyway! :)
