SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) -- Some Orange County nudists are fuming over the burial of a rotting sea lion carcass on a San Onofre beach.
The naturists said Tuesday that state parks officials buried the animal on the beach near Trail 6,
. . .
the dead animal's fin sticks out of the sand just a few yards from a volleyball court near where people still sunbathe naked. He says the stench is so overpowering

I don’t think it would matter to me if I were on a nude beach or a regular beach. Burying an animal that large that close to the surface anywhere near where people regularly wear little clothing and are playing active games is a serious health hazard. Once decomposition really gets going, if someone comes down on one foot on top of that burial site, they’re likely to find themselves thigh-deep in rotting seal.

Poor sea lion has to be subjected to such horrors. Let him rest is peace.

I was in traffic on the I-5, behind a trailer carrying a rotting sea mammal (for some UCLA lab, per truck’s emblem). It was the foulest smell I ever encountered.

Don't care if they are nudists or not, I do wonder why the park service buried the animal so close to the volley ball court and not even completely.
Its not that hard to use a back hoe and bury the animal deep in the sand.

I found one of those on a north california beach one day with a giant bite mark to it’s torso. Signs at the beach warned of great white sharks in the vicinity. swimming was strongly discouraged.

I doubt it. Most of the nudists are old men.

The problem with being a nudist is that nobody really takes your complaints very seriously, no matter how valid.
It's among the silliest of hobbies.

Great fish food and the idiots bury it on the beach instead of hauling it out to sea and dumping it.. would be gone before it hit the bottom

To: flash2368
would be gone before it hit bottomThe shrimp and crabs would get every bit of it. When I was in the USAF I was sent to Mobile to pick up the bodies of two pilots that had crashed in Mobile Bay. The crabs got to the bodies before the USAF divers recovered them. The areas where the faces were exposed had been cleaned to the bone and the rest of the bodies were intact.

Perhaps the place should be declared a “Sacred Gaia Burial Ground” and posted as Off Limits to all exploration, mining, etc. as Clinton did with the low sulfur coal deposits in Utah

I agree. A beach is not place for a dead seal to be burried. As for those that insist on nudity they should show a little respect for others that don't want to be offendd. There are plenty of private places where everyone there is into the same thing like hotels that are specially for sunbathing.
