David Tennant’s final Doctor Who episode was seen by 10.4m (35.5%) on BBC One last night, according to early figures.

In ‘The End Of Time, Part Two’, Tennant’s Doctor regenerated into a new incarnation, played by Matt Smith, after stating his final line: “I don’t want to go.”

The audience peaked with 10.85m (36%) for the regeneration moment at 7.45pm. The special, which was broadcast between 6.40pm and 7.55pm, ranked as the second most-watched programme of the day overall, behind EastEnders.

A further 389k watched the episode on the BBC HD channel.

The first half of Tennant’s last story averaged 10.03m (42.2%) on Christmas Day.

BBC Three’s behind-the-scenes spinoff programme Doctor Who Confidential delivered 1.1m (3.8%) between 7.55pm and 8.55pm.

I don’t want him to go either. I enjoyed Tennant so much as the Doctor. He was wonderful.

The new guy, Matt Smith, looks like he’s going to bring some mischief and fun with him to the show.

I thought I had always heard that a Time Lord could regenerate 13 times, not 7.

David Tennant is number 10, I believe.

Most of the reponses in Google indicate that a Time Lord can regenerate 12 times for a total of 13 lives.

Well he certainly has that british look to him, but he looks shockingly young. I thought Tennant was pretty young when I first saw in on there and this guy looks 5 or 6 years younger. I don’t know that i’ll continue to watch. If they make it another three seasons then I may come back - and have plenty of episodes to catch - but i think tonight’s my finale with the Doctor for a while.

Going to really miss Tennant as The Doctor, same as I do Baker.

Anyone know if new Sarah Jane episodes are ever coming back on air?

I just got thru watching it myself, it was a most definitely long sendoff, the Tardis was in flames and falling apart, the sendoffs to the past partners was good, this new guy looks kinda flaky, I really hope they don’t try to force a gay Doctor on us.

I don’t think he’s a gay doctor, I think he is a goofy adolescent doctor. See the previews at the link I posted above. The Tardis destruction was hard to take. I think the new guy gets a new, improved and updated Tardis.
