If the dems are so insane as to push for amnesty that will be the last nail in the coffin of the democratic party. They will be hiostory no matter how many hispanic votes they get to offset all those who are outraged and offended by this commie administration and president.
Count on it. They may wait until after the 2010 elections (or they may not wait), but they will push at least as hard for that as for the health care takeover.
The Rats know that even if they sustain losses in the short-term in 2010 or 2012, it is very unlikely they will go below 40 senators - so the Republicans will be unable to repeal the health care takeover or illegal amnesty in the face of a Rat filibuster. And in the longer run, the health care control and the illegals becoming citizens will tend strongly to place the Rats in the position of the permanent majority.
