Thank you. Happy New Year.
Admitting when you’ve failed—in public—then apologizing and doing what it takes to straighten the problem is not a good example of how to live life?
To the contrary—Rush Limbaugh’s example is the best anyone could ever do. It’s the ideal behavior of a great role model.
And nobody can claim they’ve never fallen. Nobody. It happens to us all in ways that seem very different, but which are in fact very similar from the depths of one human heart to another.
To the contraryRush Limbaughs example is the best anyone could ever do. Its the ideal behavior of a great role model.
Excuse me? Three failed marriages and a prescription pain-killer addiction that cost him his hearing?
It's great that he's back up and running again - but he's hardly a role model. I don't even look at him as a good representation of the conservative movement.
A poor representation of conservatism would be to withhold due credit from a man like Rush who has responded to failure in a way that exemplifies the highest of moral standards.
Maybe I'm not your definition of "conservative" then - whatever nebulous thing your definition happens to contain.
Instead, I'll stay with the true rock of the Bible.
Thanks anyways.
You should have that inscribed on your Limbaugh shrine.
It has a nice ring to it, very worshipful.
Back in the old BBS days I was having an exchange with a rabid Lefty. His only response to my argument was “ You sound just like Rush Limbaugh”. I wrote back “Who” and one of the other BBsers told me he was a guy on the radio. I searched around and found him on a local station. To this day, being compared to Rush Limbaugh, remains one of the greatest compliments I have ever been paid.
Your half-wit attempt at sarcasm demonstrates the weakness of your positionan utter lack of ability to reply with sincerity or honesty.
You need to rethink your entire worldview.
The Bible? You mean repenting, like Rush did.
First, go learn the Bible.
Aren't you clever.
Where does the Bible say that we should divorce three different women?
By the way...reason isn't faith.
That folks should think for themselves is a weak position?
I guess so, if one relies on the magical radio voice to do one's thinking.
You need to rethink your entire worldview.
Yeah, I'll get right on that.
The problem was your lack of self-restraint and self-discipline.
I found it interesting, to state the least, that people would continually click, and post, on Mia's threads only to complain about how long it took to download. Especially amusing were those who admitted to having a dial-up connection.
To 51 - LOL
If I were to accept the premise that the use of language on this forum should adhere to a more narrow set of rules similar to those demanded by the typical 8th grade advanced English teacher rather than a broader, more creative style which serves the same practical purpose in a more aesthetically pleasing manner, I would tell you this:
Nouns can be used as adjectives. If you didn’t know they could, you do now. “Worldview” is what it is.
But I don’t accept the premise so I advise you to avoid falling into the trap which always catches the neurotic 8th grade teacher, whose eagerness to portray every small grammatical discomfort as an academic dysfunction blinds her to the fact that this habit arises from nothing more than her own intellectual deficits.
hwy...thanks for pointing out my problem. How the hell did I ever make to 60 without you ?
No, you didn’t understand my post.
Your position is weak because it depends entirely on the truth of your assertion—that I have some kind of a shrine. If I did have the shrine, you might have a point. My not having a shrine destroys your position to the bone.
What you meant to post is the following:
“I wish Rush’s audience weren’t so independent minded and well informed. If I could have this wish I would feel more comfortable with my own ideas (which look pretty weak as things go) and with my refusal to give Rush and his audience due credit. Then I wouldn’t have to try so hard to distract attention from the fact that Rush’s addiction could have happened to anyone, but the high moral standards exemplified by his response to the addiction could only have been accomplished by a select few.”
Nah, you got it wrong.
But if I MUST simplify it for you:
"Think for yourself, Zippy. Nothing Limbaugh says is better than what YOU say."
Go now forth in confidence and independence, Grasshopper.
If you speak honestly, then I see you only want to instruct me to be wise.
But your mistake is to speak honestly without wisdom. Honesty without wisdom has no value.
Wisdom would have informed you accurately as to my assessment of my own sayings and how I compare them to those of radio personalities.
I called myself a conservative Democrat, until 1995, when my niece’s husband turned me on to Rush.
I had not realized how far my head was up my, uh, You Know, until then. Now, I’m just a Conservative.
Rush IS a Christian, on loan from God, IMHO.
I, too, of course, wish him well and a full recovery. We need him, now, more than ever.
Thank you for the post.
