Texas Tech head football athletic trainer Steve Pincock said Red Raiders receiver Adam James was placed in a "sports medicine garage" and media room as "big as a two-car garage" while recovering from a concussion, and was monitored by two trainers at all times.
Pincock's account of the incident, given in a statement to representatives of former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, contradicts James' version of events that led to Leach being fired Wednesday.
James, who is the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James, sustained a concussion on Dec. 16. He was examined the following day and told not to practice because of the injury and an elevated heart rate.

I hope all college football fans realize the precedent set here is a very scary one- colleges bowing to the whims and accusations of little league parents and whiny, entitled kids.
That’s huge. There was a letter at the CBS site from a plyer who was injured and wanted to quit school. Leach encouraged him to stay and get his degree. The kid will graduate this year.
Whoever's advising Leach on his PR is an idiot. He should have declined to give his opinion on Adam James and talked about the administration. Adam James didn't fire him (contrary to popular opinion).
In 1999, his first year, Bob Stoops brought Mike Leach to Oklahoma as OC. He said Leach’s offenses at Kentucky (where Mike was OC) were the hardest to defend against when he was DC at Florida.
And finally, OU had formations other than wishbone and could throw a forward pass for reasons other than desperation.
I like Leach, and have followed this TT development with consternation. In all the follow-up details, it appears to me that Texas Tech just wasn’t going to pay the $800K due Leach if he was coach on December 31 and couldn’t afford the contract negotiated with Leach in Feburary.
Follow the money.
The Adam James excuse appears to me to be just that - an excuse to fire Leach. And as my mother used to tell me, if you’re going to make up an excuse, any excuse is as good as any other.
I hope Mike Leach finds a splendid job.
Just not in the Big 12. He’s a hell of a coach and has made TTech more than competitive.
You are clearly missing the point that Adam James had an ax to grind with Leach. I’d expect nothing less from you, actually.
When Leach does sue, he will be able to get the records of all conversations, emails, letters, etc. of all university personnel. He will also be able to get the records of all contacts between university personnel and Craig James. That could get real interesting, especially if LEach is correct about Craig James meddling in player-coach relationships.
If Craig James was using a company phone to do his dirty work, ESPN is also implicated. If so, ESPN will drop him faster than they lynched Leach.
i haven’t been around this week, but from what xshub said this was ridiculous. glad that the coach is getting support and hope that the ESPN guy and his wussy son are ridiculed mercilessly for this.
Yet, some here refuse to believe the facts in the case- and that Adam James is a liar, as shown in his iPhone video.
I agree - he gave us some pride - rumor is they will give the job to Ruffin McNiel - who has been a great defensive coach and is very loved - but he got to play “good cop” to Leach’s “bad cop” - Ruffin doesn’t have it in him to be bad cop to a bunch of high testosterone boys - we’re done.
Thanks - yes I mention that often because it is something to be proud of - Leach cared enough to make the guys understand the real reason they are in school - to graduate.
“Im willing to bet there is a no sign policy in place now” Good point .. maybe some entrepreneurial type will produce t- or sweatshirts with a ‘message’ .. there has to be a way to get thru the espn filter to the public and the school administrators that the school’s student/alum community is with Leach on this one.
There are a million easy reasons to fire a coach. As we know it happens every day, especially at season’s end. But when it’s a seeming gross injustice based on one spoiled brat and his kid, the accuser should be shunned, and publicly so. Bring back the stocks!
As people usually do, both James and Leach are telling us only what they want us to hear. The actual truth is probably somewhere in between. As a casual observer I think the University finally got the excuse it had been hoping to find to fire an egotistical tyrant of a coach (their opinion). When coaches are accused of egregious acts colleges usually suspend the coaches they want to keep and fire the ones they don’t. Being a great Xs & Os coach doesn’t always equate with being head coach material. It seems that Leach lacks the people skills to deal effectively with everyone in the program.
Rick is the one who appointed Hance - but if 50 or 60 thousand Tech supporters want to throw their votes toward Kay, maybe Rick will do what is right. (and for the record, we are screwed either way with rick or Kay)
Yet he was head coach for 10 years and brought success to the program and raised the graduation rates of football players.
Yeah, sounds like he lacks people skills to me. /s
Was Hance appointed after Leach was already head coach? If so, shouldn’t be too hard to prove this was more about a clash of personalities (and Leach refusing to change who he is).
You and the Chancellor oviously have a difference of opinion. I wonder which of you knows the private side of Leach better.
So now its Leach’s private side on trial?
I was wrong - Hance is Chancellor - 2007
