Texas Tech head football athletic trainer Steve Pincock said Red Raiders receiver Adam James was placed in a "sports medicine garage" and media room as "big as a two-car garage" while recovering from a concussion, and was monitored by two trainers at all times.
Pincock's account of the incident, given in a statement to representatives of former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, contradicts James' version of events that led to Leach being fired Wednesday.
James, who is the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James, sustained a concussion on Dec. 16. He was examined the following day and told not to practice because of the injury and an elevated heart rate.

On why he was fired:
“I think it has to do with they don’t want to pay the money. Last year they didn’t want to pay the money [in contract negotiations]. Based on popular opinion and public pressure and things like that, they got in a position where, to save face, they had to give me a competitive contract, which they did. Then I think whether it’s for financial reasons or what, they decided not to follow through. Now essentially they’re trying to steal the money.”
On what he would do differently:
“I can’t think of a great deal that I’d do differently. I don’t have a lot of regrets. I go out and do the best that I can.. and just let the rest take care of itself.”
Every last TT fan at the game should have a sign blasting James so the espn cameras can’t avoid it. If only a few had signs, they’d bring cameras to others in the crowd, but a fully signed crowd would force them to be seen unless the cameras then were directed to stay on the field or at the announcers’ booth.
Good for Leach. As I said on another thread, how many freepers would write a forced letter of apology if they felt and knew they did nothing wrong?
Leach is a good man, and I believe him. I hope he sues the socks off those people.
I’m willing to bet there is a no sign policy in place now.
It will be interesting to see how our fans react in the Bowl Game. Im still just sick about it.
As someone who also blazes her own trail, nothing pisses me off more than those who expect everyone to be the same and show no individuality or creativity in their job.
Well, I’m a MSU alum so this game now has drama on both sides. Our team is severely depleted with key players suspended- and rightfully so. I don’t know of one MSU fan who doesn’t support the actions of Coach Dantonio.
The ‘closet’ was essential a media interview room. It may have included electrical equipment, etc. Note the white walls used for background for cameras, photos, etc.
Yep... all ignored by ESPN, btw.
Well if anything it is Must See TV. Good Luck!
Sad Tech Grad ‘92
None of this makes any sense.
To get fired over something so petty. Craig James must have something on the AD.
Pure BS.
“I saw that two days ago. Yet, as of yesterday morning, ESPN radio was STILL using the shed/electrical closet lie. Theres no doubt in my mind ESPN is getting hammered with emails/calls about their biased coverage in this.”
ESPN is just like the MSM only they cover “sports”.
I can't tell you how much all of the support freepers have shown has meant to me, and other Tech fans the past few days. We all cheer for our teams and make snide comments in semi-jest, but you all have really shown a community here for us - this is a travesty and smear of a good man's name by a pompous over rated has been and his girly son.
Thanks again - I will always remember how much the comments helped this week.
Craig James allegedly used a big donor who hates Mike to get this done.
Going to be some ticked off people if they can not watch their football today.
Something not getting mentioned enough is that Leach graduated 79% of his players, fifth or sixth highest in major college football; and the highest of any public university. His graduation rate was likely much higher than the non-football students at Texas Tech.
