Police say a man who appeared in a Discovery Channel reality show about crab fishing off Alaska is wanted for three bank robberies and has been arrested.
Police in Illinois say they arrested 23-year-old Joshua Tel Warner early on Thursday on the Oregon bank robbery warrant after a vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for a routine traffic stop.
He was being held on $US30,000 ($A33,598) bail in the Tazewell County Jail.
Police in Oregon say he is the same Josh Warner who appeared as a greenhorn deckhand on the king crab fishing boat Wizard in the show Deadliest Catch earlier this year.
The television reality show depicts the crab fishing industry in the treacherous Bering Sea near Alaska.
The warrant charges Warner with one bank robbery in 2007 and two in 2009.
Wow. Talk about a serial bank robber who starred in a reality show, Deadliest Catch, about the crab fishing industry in Alaska.
He was a Greenhorn, and since the Wizard is Keith’s boat, I imagine that Warner did not last long since Keith generally chews up greenhorns and spits them out.
Wow the Painter kid on one of the boats is from a family here in our coastal area of Oregon.
Arghhh matey! Never miss an episode, still the best "Reality" show on TV.
Your right Virgie.
The Eugene Guard has a better article.
(using new msntv so no can linky yet)
He did the robberies before signing on.
He admitted on one of the shows that his past may catch up to him now being on the show.
He also crabbed here on the Oregon Coast (I will guess Coos Bay/Florence since it is the Ocean town closest to Eugene)
The kid was arrested in Illinois and the EPD guy said he felt like a complete idiot for not being told by IPD that they had arrested him and at the same time the EPD was asking via the media to be on the look out for the kid (unbeknowst to EPD he was already arrested).
My neighbor who has fished for decades with his fleet said allot of that crap that happens on the deadleist catch is not how crabbing is down and it is all for the show.
In real reality if deck hands broke all the safety rules that they do on the show no Capt. would hire them.
The amount of money the kid got from his crime spree was minimal.
The Canuck media left many details out of its article plus named the wrong vessel.
Which fishing vessel is Cpt. Sig?
That fellow is very handsome.
I stopped watching the show after my neighbor told me it is all phoney play just for the camaras.
Sig is the skipper of the Northwestern.
...right!
Did the three Eugene robberies prior to being hired on the show.
