Hey, I enjoy fried spam once in awhile. I fry it and make a sandwich or serve it with scrambled eggs. Im not fond of chipped beef on toast but occasionally I make hamburger gravy and serve it on toast or mashed potatoes. Is that country or what?
Don't want any spam any way it's served, but put me in the camp that likes 'chipped beef' (Stouffer's Creamed Chipped Beef) as an easy lunch over wheat toast or a baked potato. I wouldn't know how to 'make' chipped beef any other way. LOL!
Speaking of the hamburger gravy, what comes to mind is when we lived in Louisiana, this wonderful Cajun woman used to prepare for us what she called "Rice 'n Gravy" - which was much MORE than gravy - everything begins with a roux - the hamburger browned and added to the roux 'gravy' and served over rice. Yummy! :)
I have sauteed the small pieces, then added the flour, sorta like a roux until its a little caramel colored and add the milk. Delicious! My mother used canned evaporated milk and water for a richer gravy. I just use milk.
While I may not eat raccoon or anything else with hands, fried Spam is good and hamburger gravy is good and chipped creamed beef on toast (SOS) is good and anything Cajun is good.
Both of those are favorites of mine. Spam sandwiches are great for a fast meal and SOS has been a comfy food since I was a kid.
Creamed chipped beef (Stouffer’s) over a baked potato, with thawed and heated green peas on top. Mmm, good eats. Also like to make creamed onions with Pioneer country gravy mix. Even scalloped potatoes are easy with Pioneer mix (slice potatoes and boil to soften, then layer with hot gravy mix and top with a sprinkle of shredded extra sharp cheese, microwave to melt the cheese).
