Not certian if I can quote the entire article, however the data contained here is enough to make me probably never eat DelMonte canned green beans again.
Based on the above findings, now check out the pdf!
This pdf chart is linked in the article, but provided it here for quick reference... http://buysafeeatwell.org/blog/data/buysafeeatwell.org-bpa_table-2009_11_02.pdf

Why eat canned beans when you can eat the frozen stuff?

So, eating frozen foods in plastic is better?
Are we saying that every transgendered/homosexual/bisexual has its roots in BPA?

Stay away from monsanto soy beans and corn. Corn syrup is not bad for you because it is concentrated sugar. It is a GMO product.

People have been eating canned food for at least a century and a half. Average lifespan has increased amazingly.
I doubt canned food is going to kill us all, in other words.

I have a lot of things in my life that are more hazardous to me than eating food that comes in cans.
Including being 67 and preparing to get rationed health care.

And of course even the one study cited says they cannot extrapolate to humans. Look this stuff has been around for 50 plus years. Now if you want to suggest that like saccharin this is somehow the cause of everything bad in our environment have at it. Once again the food police want to make sure that you only consume what they want you to eat
I prefer fresh or flash frozen vegetables myself but I like an occassional soda or fruit juice. Sometimes I want something out of season at a reasonable price.

Canned foods are sometimes a whole lot safer than fresh:

BPA comes from the plastic used now to line cans with,I agree that they should use old fashioned tin or other noncorrosive metals to line the cans. Buy glass jars or can your own.

1. Buy a small plot and grow and raise your own.
2. Buy organic food.
3. Buy fresh food at a farmer's market.
4. Buy fresh food at a supermarket (Ugh).
5. Buy frozen food.
6. Buy canned food.
7. But freeze-dried food.
Did I miss any choices? Please add your own.

Hmmph. Most of us have been eating canned goods all of our lives and are still fine.
Everybody's going to die of something.
What powerful lobby stands to make a lot of money off of this research, I wonder?

Other than home canned, canned food is nasty anyway. Fresh or frozen is the way to go.

I opened a can of tomatoes (diced & roasted) and poured out the contents.
I immediately noticed that the inside of the can was coated with something. Checked it with my meter (on resistance) and found that the inside surface of the can will not conduct electricity, so we're not talking about bare metal.
This can of tomatoes was put out by Hunt's...perhaps some cheapo brands cut corners and don't use the coating, but I've seen it in a lot of veggie cans when I open them.

Clerks in so many of the stores dent so many of the cans right next to the seals now anyway, that botulism is an increasing risk. Tort reform (effort for abolition of recourse for damages) and apathy are getting to be more common, so it’s safer to grow our own food.

however the data contained here is enough to make me probably never eat DelMonte canned green beans again. For over 20 years I haven't eaten Green Giant anything for an entirely different reason. Back in the '80s they moved their Watsonville canning plant to Mexico, throwing a lot of good people out of work. The people who worked for GG in Mexico were raising Hell because they'd only by worked 11 months of the year. That way GG could say they were "seasonal" workers and not even have to pay the Mexican minimum wage (never knew they had one).
I wrote the company that I was swearing off their canned goods as pist off employees could put all manner of stuff in the cans. Never got an answer.
Been eating canned goods for years from the others and it hasn't bothered me . . . bothered me . . . bothered me . . . :-)
