As stated in the article, aflatoxin contamination is tested for and regulated in this country, thank goodness, and the grain terminals to which we deliver our harvests won't take grain that tests positive for aflatoxin, unless it is going to load and ship directly to an ethanol plant. That way it is not stored with uncontaminated grain.
This is another reason to watch what kinds of food you buy from outside the US. I'm sure that China isn't as particular about testing grain for contamination.
My little dog ate something in my back yard that contained an aflotoxin and it destroyed her liver. We were never able to figure out exactly what it was, just something moldy. It almost destroyed me too.
