Perhaps Nazi Germany but Europe wasn’t so in touch with nature at the time

Actually, the Nazis were Europe's first big enviros.

I haven't seen this movie, but one thing about the reviews has struck me.

If the natives are good enough at combat to beat the invaders, presumably it's because they've had a lot of practice. That practice would presumably have been on each other. I bet that gets left out of the story, with the natives all being Ghandi until whitey shows up.

Another thing that bugs me is the claim that this story line is original. The basic theme has been one of the most common SF story lines for the last 40 years. I bet there are at least 15 or 20 Star Trek (in its various versions) episodes where it plays out. Even one of the Star Wars movies had this basic plot. Ewoks and all that.

Its original i think in the way they get humans into the alien population, otherwise no. What i meant by the Euros not being in touch with nature was the industrial revolution, something not in the storyline in Avatar.
I have seen the movie and nothing about warfare among clans is mentioned nor is there any hint of friction between the tribes. I can understand that storyline not being covered, time constraints and all that, but the briefest of mentions would have been possible.
Overall though,it doesn’t take away from the movie. After all, they are aliens and perhaps we are attempting to put our experiences into the framework of the movie.
