The offenders? A yellow lab and a weimaraner. Time for responsible ownership laws.

Well, he should do quite well on enhancing his portfolio with this law suit.

Former UPS driver - aka union goon who was too lazy to cut it at UPS. What a POS.

4 surgeries??
If this were not a celeb owner, these dogs would be long gone, no?

I remember in high school when Namath signed with the Jets, he had a provision in his contract guaranteeing him $100/week for life! “Wow”, we thought, “He'll never be a poor man as long as he lives!” Hope he still has that money coming in.

We have Weims...but I was sorry to read this morning that a toddler was killed by the family’s Weimaraner. They don’t know why it turned on the child, but it bit him in the neck, and the bite was fatal. Which just goes to show you that any dog bite, can be fatal, even if it’s not one of the breeds that are known for serious injury attacks.

“Former UPS driver - aka union goon who was too lazy to cut it at UPS. What a POS.”

Perhaps.....or after four surgeries, he might possibly have good reason for not being able to lift fifty pound boxes for a living. Perhaps, and this is just a guess on my part because very little information was given in this story, the “family dogs” ripped him up enough to be truly disabled. But that’s just an opinion, of course, and it could change if more comes out.

Thanks for the link. I tried to post the same story this AM, did a search, but the title was different from your article, so I didn’t see it.

Anyhoo, the source I was posting from is not allowed on FR due to copyright issues.

Hard to imagine a Weim killing a child, but I think it was a singular bite, that unfortunately was in the neck area.

The Weim was 8, and had been a family pet. We have an 8 year old Weim and a 4 year old. The 8 year old we’ve had since she was a pup, the 4 year old we adopted 2 years ago (female 70 lbs, male 90 lbs.) We’ve never had a bite, but I still don’t trust them when children are in our home, especially toddlers. Any dog can bite, this story is so tragic because I believe if the bite had been in another area of the body, it would have been just that, a bite...not a fatality.

No. The guy is looking to sue. Mean Labrador? Yeah right. The driver is looking for a free ride.

“No. The guy is looking to sue. Mean Labrador? Yeah right. The driver is looking for a free ride.”

So are the surgeons that put him back together, I suppose? All dogs have the capacity for aggression, including the “all-loving” labrador. Geesh.

One of the meanest dogs I’ve met was a Golden Retriever...a breed of dog that is normally butter on 4 legs.

I agree, any dog can bite, if allowed to. I have noticed that with stories that don’t involve certain maligned breeds, the dog simply “bites”. However, dogs don’t have the ability to bite a chunk of flesh away like people can (yes, it’s been done!). Their mouths are designed to tear by shaking side to side or pulling/gnawing, so all the “bite” accidents that cause major damage or death were probably more than that, in my opinion. The weim that killed the baby was with a female. I am not sure if they were intact, but if so, that definitely could have triggered some aggression.

Do you have details about this story the rest of us lack? Or is just knee jerk that anyone suing a celeb is full of shiite?

Nah = just think the former UPS driver and Teamster is looking for a pay day. Typical union scum.

“4 surgeries??

I read an awful lot of these stories. The ones involving “friendly” dogs sometimes say the dog is sent on the long walk. However, the ones involving “bad” dogs always do. This is not the first pro football player to be irresponsible with his pets (not even counting Vick).

Why would you think he’s looking for a payday? Surgery is not cheap, and having four of them in two years is pretty serious. You think he is making it up? What about the other complaints made about these dogs? Why are you in such denial?

You love bashing certain dogs for their “inherent traits”, nevermind who owns them or what the situation. Just because your lab is a mush doesn’t mean they all are. Just like if your friend’s cousin’s daughter’s pit bull bit someone, it doesn’t mean they all do. Dogs are as individual as people are, and their experiences and environment (and gosh, even their owners!)have an extremely large impact on their actions.

Are you the dude with the pitbull who loves to post messages about “pitbull saves baby?”

Nope. I’m the woman who is writing my thesis about the effects of irresponsible dog ownership, pit bulls, and the damaging results of biased reporting on society as a whole. I tend to post stories involving tragedies associated with the false belief that only “bad” dogs attack people.
