The paparazzi are brutal - the police probably figured a show of force would decrease the possibility of an accident from her being chased; then they would have been criticized for not providing security - damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
If she's got the kids with her, I suspect it's more about protecting them from that circus.

You would have preferred a Princess Diana situation? Because that is what the paparazzi would have done the moment she left that house. This was simply a ‘stay-away’ exercise by the cops and it was sound tactical execution.
I blame the media. She has the right to go to the airport or wherever if she wants to. This whole thing is past “frenzy” level. I doubt if she’d even make it to the airport without a media/papparazzi whore cutting them off or jumping on top of their vehicle like Spiderman in order to hang over the side of the roof and take photos of Elin and the kids inside.
Those people are barabarians and bloodsuckers.
