NFL Playoff pictures begins to clarify in NFC, murky in AFC

The playoff picture in the NFC has begun to simplify, New Orleans, Minnesota, Philiadelphia, and Arizona as divison leaders while Green Bay, Dallas, and the NY Giants fight for the two wild cards. Since Dallas defeated Philadelphia earlier, Dallas since has a shot at winning the East. The NY Giants plays at the resurgent Washington Redskins Monday night and are on the outside looking in, but has the tie breaker over Dallas.

However in the AFC, 6 teams still have mathematical hopes for the last wild card at 7-7 (Jacksonville Jaguars , Pittsburgh Steelers,Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins,New York Jets, and the Houston Texans. The Division leaders are Indianapolis, San Diego, Cincinnati, and New England with Baltimore and Denver currently holding the wild cards.

I’m a lifelong Jets fan and ticket holder....(my dad actually had season tickets when they first were the Titans and played in the old Polo grounds)..I am disgusted. I moved to Tampa two years ago, ( my sons-in law now have my tickets) and am seriously considering rooting for the Bucs in the future..they are truly pathetic, and this way I can lose interest after about 2 games...my beloved Jets have tortured me.for over 40 years....in 69..the year we won SBIII..I was stationed in Spain, and of course never got to see/hear the game....gawd..

Me too. There should be automatic entry to heaven for Jets fans, since we have already suffered through Purgatory.

To add: they desperately need a decent QB coach for Sanchez. He clearly has a gun...did you see him overthrow Edwards by 30 yds? (Edwards tripped on that endzone attempt) But he never gets his feet set. Peyton and Brees have got that “dance” down that increases their completion rates and keeps INTs to a minimum. It is a micro-step technique that always allows them to set quickly before a throw. Sanchez needs to learn this technique.

Looks like the Steelers still have a chance to make it in — they have to win out (of course), but if they do, it’s looking like about a 50/50 chance of getting the help they need.

Still, I like Indy/NO in the Super Bowl. The Colts just simply manage to be able to win, no matter what, and the Saints, I think, will start playing better again now they no longer have the “undefeated” tag to contend with (the Colts have more experience with winning, and are handling it better, IMO).

Good point. However, it’s the eternal dilemma in the NFL...mediocre, at best team..drafts a top rated, stud QB..do you bring him along slowly..make him stand on the sidelines, carry the clipboard, learn by watching what NOT to do..or throw him in, to the wolves..learn by experience..the school of hard knocks...and of course hoping that he doesn’t get himself killed in the process. There are arguments pro and con, as there are success stories, and failures, wth both scenarios...

Yes, that’s ALWAYS been the problem.

NOT a laughing matter.
