Phil Hendry's last program

You had my hopes up with that title. Alas, it isn't Hendry's last show. ;)

Hendry is very left wing...

but he is one of the few who is actually so bizarre and absurd that it’s funny... he’s fun to listen to in small doses

Who is that porn stud who is a legend in his own mind....a real nutjob ...Hendry had him on last week voicing support for Woods and claiming he could seduce any married woman since he does so well banging bored housewives who frequent the Rusty Pelican in Manhattan Beach or Laguna or wherever...

Rusty Pelican bar for hookups....how cheesey and unhip...bet this guy has a Harry Reems brush and gold chains....lol

Listened to him several times during the early '00s in SoCal.
He does appeal to a certain type of person.
He was canned by KFI(I think it was them) during one of their many 're-structurings' and his leaving was not cause for much protest.

I did think his 'woman who lived in a gated community' shtick was a little funny. It hit uncomfortably close to home for a lot of SoCal people.

Frankly, I always expected to see a news item about him telling of his suicide.

I should explain further. WE never said it would be burnt bodies stacked up. Some guy said we said that. It is First off so terribly incorrect to pretend to link one with the other. What we have here is more a communist unravel in our midst. It will be different. Different than before yet contain the same elements. Do you have any doubt that those whose salaries we paid all these years are very gifted at what they will do? I can say 6 million times and never enough. i am not judge. Just very sad about it and I don’t walk a certain way at gravestones. I walk in a line or determine the path. I Don’t walk On them.

he had a “nutritionist” on who claimed the only thing kids should eat was candy. I laughed for an hour.

The Phil Hendrie guest you heard was Larry Grover. Here is a snippet from his biography:

Larry Grover-
Former president of the Conservatives of Kern County; currently lives on the service porch of his mother’s home. His marriage fell apart while he was devoting his every waking minute to getting President Bill Clinton impeached.

Right now he is “interviewing” some guy about climate change who wants force people to use reusable toilet paper.

Being that Phil does satire, he hits all sides of the political spectrum.

Hendrie does all the voices on his show, which is a satire of talk radio. For awhile he was very much pushing an agenda (while putting down other talk hosts who pushed an agenda) but he’s gone back to the old format. So when you hear Doug Dannger, who is a gay man and a gay journalist, realize it’s Phil. When you hear the owner of the (fictional) Ted’s of Beverly Hills steakhouse...it’s Phil.

You can see clips of youtube of how he does it. He does several voices at once (including his helpers like Bud Dickman) using microphones and phones. Politically he bounces back and forth between left and right and he puts down hosts/people who are solid left or solid right on every issue. One minute you’ll be disgusted at his stand on the tea parties, then you’ll be laughing and agreeing with his stand on someone else.

He does have some real guests on, like the host of
Investigation Discovery’s “Most Evil” show, talking crime.

Years ago, Beck (when he was a local afternoon radio guy) took a page from Phil Hendrie, and it was hilarious.

In the 3 o’clock hour, he would inform the audience of a controversy they were going to discuss during the 5 o’clock hour (when folks who were just getting in their cars for the commute home would just be tuning in to the show.)

He’d have listeners call in and assign them parts, outrageous comments on the subject, etc. Then they’d start the “bit” around 5, the assigned listeners would call in to get the controversy going...and then they’d wait for the unsuspecting outraged callers to phone in and be made as heck.

Very funny, but straight out of Phil Hendrie’s book, except Hendrie manages to do all the characters himself. (my favorite Hendrie show was about a woman who had killed her kid’s dog for embarassing her..it was a masterpiece.)

I have the distinct honor of being “unfriended” by Phil Hendrie on Facebook. I used to be a big fan of his......then he talked about making fun of Sarah Palin’s Down Syndrome son and how he looks. So I turned the tables.......I ticked him off.

I told him on Facebook how great it was when he made fun of “retarded” babies and how I couldn’t believe Sarah Palin had that “thing” etc. etc. etc. He got mad at me, sent me not 1 but 2 emails and the rest is history. My hunch is he started thinking “gee, are these the kind of people who listen to me”.....I am no fan of his now and have deleted all his stuff from my Ipod. he crossed the line and that was it......
