For over 10 years now I have heard of numerous studies that would indicate that vitamin E, i.e. beta-carotene does not work for lung cancer, and that it actually increases the risk of smokers developing lung cancer.

Vitamin E and Beta carotine are 2 completely different things. Beta Carotine is a precursor to Vitamin A.
