Jesus trumps the Catholic Church.
Jesus founded the Catholic Church through His Apostles and the Holy Spirit. The Church compiled the New Testament Canon in the forth century. Only those scriptures that conformed with Catholic teachings handed down from the Apostles were included.
Dubious writings such as the "gospels" of Peter and Judas, were excluded as "apocrypha." Church Fathers were inspired, legitimate interpreters of scripture who fully understood the original languages. Therefore, nothing in the Bible can logically be interpreted to conflict with Catholic teachings dating back to the forth century, since any conflict would have been excluded from the Canon.
