Which is precisely why I laugh every time I hear Alec Baldwin bitch and moan about the state of America's family courts and surround law. It's because of his ilk that the courts are in the mess that they're in today.

I spent two-plus decades as a Navy JAG, I could regale you with stories about sailors coming home from a cruise and finding their old lady shacked up with another man. They, because of their demanding work life, get screwed in court. They almost never get custody, even when the mother is a deadbeat drunk (which is not infrequent). And, the mother frequently leaves town to move back to her home, or her new boyfriend's home, leaving the sailor, who's not making a lot of money to begin with, isolated in debt and out of touch with his children. It's a pathetic story that is oft repeated.
