SALT LAKE CITY Utah police say the husband of a 28-year-old woman who disappeared more than a week ago is hindering the investigation.
West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan says Josh Powell didn't show up for an interview Monday on the advice of his attorney. McLachlan says that's costing authorities valuable time in the effort to find Powell's wife, Susan.

One law prof and one leo discussing their opinions on a given topic do not, in my mind, make a universal case for anything. You and I both know that there is difference of opinions amongst the ‘professionals’.
Do you think that all law profs and all LEOs are in lockstep with the opinions provided on the video you have linked to? Is there not difference of opinions amongst the experts?
Well, I know that you will have the attorneys who advise you to never talk to the police, who will tell you to get rid of any attorney who does not tell you likewise... LOL...

That video only presents ONE of each.
My personal experience includes many, many more and ALL OF THEM will tell you the same.
Find ONE defense attorney who won’t advise you to hold your tongue, and you’ve found the guy you LEAST want to represent you.
I think that there is a good bit of talking past each other in this discussion. I assume I’m as guilty of that as anyone.
I don’t think one size fits all rules work in all cases. In many, perhaps most, situations, you and Star Traveler are likely spot on.
Just not universally so. That would be my paltry point.
And that’s fine, because this is — when it comes right down to it... your own choice of what you think is right for you personally...
I agree.
While a lawyer might tell you that 100% of the time, the individual will make a personal decision at some point. It all depends upon the situation and the risk.
“They went that-a-way!” might be helpful and harmless, but there are situations where a simple admission/demonstration of knowlege can be incriminating.
