IMHO 8 to 12 year old girls should be her only audience. She sings sacrine sweet teenage girl love songs. Harmless stuff.

I told my old lady, not to sweat it. Taylor Swift is certainly no Britney Spears!

Not yet, anyway.

She seems pretty cool to me. My grandaughter likes her and I like her music.

My 11 year old grand daughter listens to nothing but Taylor Swift. I haven’t heard anything in Swift’s songs that would cause me to think that she shouldn’t listen to them.

You can do a search for Taylor Swift Lyrics and determine for yourself whether they are appropriate for your little girl. I think they are harmless, but you should investigate for yourself.

My kids are all well past that stage, but if I had to pick between a Miley or a Swift concert for a 12 year-old, I’d go with Taylor Swift. She seems pretty wholesome - so far.

You have NEVER seen Sponge Bob!?!?!

As for Taylor Swift, any teen who writes, produces, and arranges her own songs deserves my respect. The best quote I heard from her was: “I’m 19, if I want to go out and party all night long I can, I just would rather not.”.

My ten year old son likes her. Some of her songs are quite good and well written. She seems to have her head on straight, at least for now, so I wouldn’t have a problem with an eight year old listening to her music.

Look on the bright side, she could be a fan of Tiger Woods.

My fourteen year old daughter is very picky about what she listens to, and mostly listens to Christian music. She likes Swift. She immediately dumped Miley Cyrus after her little faux-centerfold photo spread, so I know she’s got standards she sticks to.

After asking her, she says she prefers the radio edits, because the originals have just a few mild swear words.

Taylor is a very responsible, mature young lady. She writes songs that youngsters can relate to (more early teens than really little ones usually, as they usually involve experiences of young/unrequited love, high school pals, etc.). My daughter is 16 and homeschooled, and intensely dislikes anyone “skanky” or questionable. She is a HUGE Taylor fan for a couple of years now, and so far, there hasn’t been so much as a whisper of anything untoward about her. She is squeaky clean, and a lady. She has won many, many awards in the past few months for her music (even beat out Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney for Artist of the Year, or some such award, at the Country Music Awards a couple of weeks ago), and I believe she deserves each and every one! You need have no concerns about her listening to Miss Swift’s music. Just enjoy the fact that she hasn’t taken a liking to Lady Gaga or Britney Spears!

Bought MP3 players for my girls. It was the first album to go them. Good, wholesome music. She comes across as very classy for so young.

You think Britney is kid-friendly?

None of them are.

The next Harry Potter films probably won’t be.

Mylie Cyrus is turning into Lindsay Lohan. I heard pole dancing is part of her stage show now.

My band, female fronted pop, looked at some taylor swift and decided it was just too bubble gum. My band has three girls, aged 21-25, a 14 year old male guitar player and me. We’ll do Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Sheryl Crow, Paramour etc. But not Taylor.

Your post about Taylor Swift was good and all, and Imma let you finish, but that post about Beyonce was the best post ever.

she appears to be a sweet kid with her head screwed on straight. In one song the hero tells the heroine “I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress.”

The songs of hers that I have heard are sweet and saccharine, but I would think an 8 year old would be fine.
