I don’t think they are viscous as that implies evil. They are a very strong animal that requires a stronger owner. most owners are not able to train or manage this breed adequately.
Someone like the Dog Whisperer can handle these animals most of the time. You have to be able to pick up on the subtle behaviors that provide warning. Even he misses the warnings sometimes with this breed though.
We have two in our neighborhood now. The owners run them daily but now I cannot let my kids over in their area. If they get loose I will shoot them.
I have seen some nasty dog fights between pits on the Dog Whisper show....I remember one that he had a hold of one and someone else had hold of the 2nd dog, they couldn't pry them apart or pull them apart...
He then used a maneuver that I was taught as a kid to get a dog to release their bite, Its taking the back of the lower lip and turning it over the teeth and press hard. That causes any dog to let go and it made the pit Ceasar was dealing with let go of the other dog...
When I was a kid, when my dad brought home the first dog I remember, he showed me how to do that..
He knew any dog had the ability to bite, and sometimes they might not let go....He was an old farm boy that was a Mounted Police man for the city of Detroit..
I don't understand the mentality of the breeds defenders they seem to be deaf, dumb and blind to what these animals can do. And its never the breed, its the owner or the victims fault to them..skulls thick as a pit bull.
There was one article about a pit attacking a 3 year old and these people said it wasn't the dogs fault, he was just protecting his property.. There is a ding in the thought process of some of these people. They are not worth talking to, Stay safe......GG
