Well I did call at&t and the advice given was to check my next bill for any changes. You’d think with the technology available these days they could have done something.
I really hate telemarketers with a passion. I would hang them on lamp-posts if I came to power.
In September, I got a letter from someplace like U. S. Telecom asking for several months payment for long distance......I learned something from that - always kill off both if you end service.
(I called and explained and faxed a copy of the death certificate, so it all got credited off....)
Oh - you want to hear about technology? I had Comcast telephone service 3 years ago (not anymore). On a Sunday afternoon after a huge snow storm Saturday night, a guy comes to my front door and tells me he is from Comcast and had just “fixed” my next-door neighbor’s telephone and was curious to know whether my phone service was down. The whole time he’s talking to me, he is starring at my Doberman who was standing on his back legs, leaning against the screen door and barking like crazy. I said my service was fine and shut the door.
I called Comcast and asked if they could verify that there was q service person in my area (on a Sunday). They took my phone number and said they would check and get back to me immediately. That was 3 years ago and I’m still waiting for that return phone call.
In the meantime, this guy was NOT a Comcast and was panning the neighborhoo. Turns out he told some 78 year old lady about 3 blocks from me that he was from the gas company and she unfortunately let him in “to check her furnace” and he robbed her. Was on the news the following nite so I contacted the police and gave a report. Never heard whether he got caught or not.
