Try watching ESPN for the past two days... every 15 minutes, they’re playing the 911 call for his mother-in-law’s fainting spell (and possible heart attack). She’s 57, not an athlete, and the 911 call is utterly uninteresting. (”Oh. She’s okay.”) This has nothing to do with sports, it most likely has nothing to do with Woods’ “transgressions”, and is merely an excuse to talk about it, without talking about it, 4-5 times every hour. Zzzzzzz!

the above you mention are real ‘news’ in the sense that they are external events that can and will (negatively) impact all of us. The media as a rule knows better than to get the tax serfs riled up over anything of substance, though.
