John Dehner, here as "Rance", had the lead role as Paladin in "Have gun, Will Travel" on the radio.

This was unique, in that the HGWT TV show pre-dated the radio show.

Fibber : The “floorwalker” is Mel Blanc (Warner Brother’s cartoon voice of Bugs Bunny, etc.)

Archie Andrews

12/13/47  "Christmas Shopping"  Bob Hastings (Archie Andrews), Arthur Kohl (Fred Andrews), Alice Yourman (Mary Andrews), Gloria Mann  (Veronica Lodge), Harlan Stone (Jughead Jones), Rosemary Rice (Betty Cooper), Ray Hedge (floorwalker)  ; Writer - Carl Champell ; Producer/Director - Kenneth W. MacGregor ; Announcer - Bob Sherry ; Sponsor - Swift & Company, franks and Brookfield sausage ;  It is Saturday afternoon in Riverdale.  Mr. Fred  Andrews is reading the paper.  His wife Mary tells him to answer the ringing phone.  It is Veronica Lodge who wants Fred to give Archie a message.  She wants him to come over at 4:00 rather than 3:00 because she is going Christmas shopping for Archie's present.  Jughead drops in on Archie and together they go Christmas shopping.  Mr. Andrews also goes shopping.  Betty Cooper calls for Archie after he has left.  Betty and Mrs. Andrews decide to go Christmas shopping.   When Archie sees Veronica he pretends to be a clothes dummy while Jughead talks to her.  The floorwalker thinks Archie is the worst clothes dummy he has ever seen.  When Archie reveals that he is a real person the floorwalker says that the jacket Archie is wearing still has it's $14.95 price-tag.  Archie says that he bought it last year but evidently never took the tag off.  The floorwalker insists on Archie's last $14.95.  Archie gets a sales-slip so that he can exchange the coat back for the money.  He thinks he has had a smart idea until he realizes that he will be coat-less.  Mr. Andrews debates on the type of perfume he will buy for Mrs. Andrews.  He sees his wife coming so he puts the bottle in his pocket so she doesn't see what he is buying.  She moves away but the floorwalker saw him put it in his pocket.  Mr. Andrews pulls the bottle out of his pocket and finds that it has leaked.  The floorwalker was going to let him off, even though there is no wife to be seen, but now Mr. Andrews HAS to pay for the damaged merchandise.  Mrs. Andrews loses her dress and coat from a rack as she is trying on a bathrobe.  The floorwalker is flabbergasted.  At the exchange Archie runs into Mr. Sherry and then his perfume-reeking father, and his bathrobed mother, plus Veronica and Betty.  The floorwalker shows up.  Pandemonium reigns.  Once things quiet down all the stories are found to be true.  Everyone vouches for Archie's coat, and Mr. Andrews does have a wife, etc.  The floorwalker straightens everything out and lets Mrs. Andrews keep the bathrobe for free.
