How did you ocme up with thinking I was referring to HIM? What I said was (I think) pretty clear: “I’ve come to see Brinkley as despicable.” Someone else posted about his being insufferable even before he gained fame and fortune.

So, is it any wonder their adult child would be messed up, suicidal even? Alexa Joel may have had all the bling a kid could want, but she got the short end of parenting. So I would wish for her some inner peace and maybe finding a new fulfilling direction in her life. This near-miss suicide could be the best thing that ever happened to her. Ya just never know.

"So now it sounds like her dad is, too"

If it's a misunderstanding my apologies.

Sing us a song, you're the Bananaman
Sing us a song or fight,
For we're in the mood for some Mexican food,
And you've got us feeling uptight.

It’s the song equivalent of teen sex comedy like ‘American Pie’.

You like swimming in the cultural sewer don't you?

Terrible taste in music and terrible taste in movies.

Keep up with the baseless aspersions. It makes your points all the stronger.

Only the Good Die Young is one of my favorite songs (and I’m a practicing Catholic, heh).

I know what my screen name means. Do you know what Twink means? Do a google video search with the safe search off.

Either a self-loathing Catholic or someone that doesn't understand their faith.

It doesn't change the fact that you are a bigot without the guts to admit it. I posted the lyrics. Anyone with a brain can see they are full of bigotry. I also read a blurb in Wikipedia where BJ discusses the song and says "the point of the song wasn't so much anti-Catholic as pro-lust." Meaning that the song was anti-Catholic, it just wasn't the main point of the song. Your previous explanation is probably total fiction. If it's not, attach a link to the interview.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but the rest of us know what you are.

At this point you’re just trolling this thread and hassling me but I’ll play along...the interview I mentioned is on film. It’s part of the ‘The Stranger’ 30th Anniversary CD/DVD package. He said the song was about a Catholic girl who kept her honor and couldn’t understand what the fuss was about. Joel writes from various points of view all the time. His long time fans know this.

Just curious, do you think Martin Scorsese is a bigot because of ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’? Or Ron Howard because of The Da Vinci Code?

Of course, lol ;)

I’m a middle aged married mother of 4 now but I still love this song.

Your mask has slipped and now you are trying desperately to put it back in place. Keep trying to pedal your spin. You've exposed your true self.

I won't play your game.

“And she should have YOUR looks and MY talent.” Billie

“Yeah, but what is she has YOUR looks and MY talent?” Christie

I answered your question precisely. You didn't answer mine however. But I love the personal attacks though...I'm a bigot because I like a classic and extremely popular song (LOL!). It's the same line of thinking that anyone who likes Lolita is a closet pedophile. One meets all kinds online...

Oh gosh. This again.

Yes, I know what my name means...childhood nickname...

And a freeper, a couple years ago was kind enough to tell me what some thought it meant.

So is this all you got, sweetie? I don’t need to do a google search for this one.

Bite me.

Why bother? She/he won’t get it anyway.

BTW, I can’t stand Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code movie and don’t get me started on The Last Temptation of Christ. But again, they’re movies. Just like some songs are just songs. And I enjoy them.

As for Billy Joel and this song, Only the Good Die Young, all I can say is it’s awesome. Nothing bigoted about it.

Have you listened to Kid Rock’s All Summer Long? I like that one too. I wish I knew how to post a video. I’d like to listen to Only the Good Die Young now.

:)
