This sounds worse than the treatment Jeane Kirkpatrick got when she tried to give a speech at UC Berkeley in the early 1980s—in that case I think it was just a small minority who were heckling her. The left has gotten more aggressive in shutting down views they disagree with.
Look at the liberal riot (video is probably on youtube) at Columbia when representatives from the Minutemen came speak.
