Dressing The Season
The warm glow of Summer slipped away
and the shifting flame of Fall fell fey
As the breath of Winter kisses the air
and snow carpets chill ground gone bare
Wind whispers in the dead fingers of trees
telling of the new drifting snow yet to be
Sharp the scent of warm fireplaces all aglow
upon the crisp breeze that soft does flow
Winter comes on wind drift feet so fleet
and we feel the crispness so sharp and neat
White garments dress the trees and lane
and sense a new aliveness to winter’s reign
