Chelsea Clinton, the 29-year old daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, has become engaged to her longtime boyfriend, investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.
Matt McKenna, a spokesman for the former president, confirmed the engagement Monday. The couple sent an e-mail to friends Friday announcing the news.
Were sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc.

Marc Mezvinsky:
Son of former Iowa congressman Edward Mezvinsky and former Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky.
Like Clinton, he studied at Stanford University in California.
He’s familiar with parental scandal: his father pleaded guilty in 2002 to tricking investors out of over $10 million.
Mezvinsky is an investment banker with Goldman Sachs.
As noted elsewhere, she is her mother’s daughter. Eventually it comes out.
Bank on it.
Scrape away the name status etc and she and he are no different than any other couple.
He could be a-hole of the week but it matters not when compared to the maturing of the daughter of “she whose name cannot be mentioned”.
[tongue in cheek, of course...]
I wish them the best.
Hopefully the sins of the parents will not darken their home.
????????????????????/ I believe Al Gore’s one daughter is married and has been for awhile and they have a grandchild or grandchildren.
Or the father...
Didn’t she run against Specter for the Senate seat in ‘94? I seem to remember a bunch of ads showing big bad Arlen hammering poor Anita Hill.
Did it make headlines when she got engaged? Chelsea was “offlimits” but we’ve heard about this and that beau of hers. Why the TMZ treatment?
That's nothing, Al Gore and the Global Climate Change conspirators have stolen much more money.
Marc Mezvinsky is the son of former Iowa Rep. Edward Mezvinsky and Marjorie Margolies. He is a childhood friend, fellow Stanford alum and Goldman Sachs employee.
The former first daughter and Marc Mezvinsky have been close since their teens, when their parents hobnobbed in D.C.
The Elder Mezvinsky pleaded guilty in 2002 to defrauding investors of more than $10 million. It is expected that he will be released from prison this year.
Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky served one term as a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. She worked as a television journalist at WCAU-TV from 1967 to 1971, and then with NBC from 1971 to 1991.
Edward "Ed" Mezvinsky (born January 17, 1937) is a former congressman who was later sentenced to 80 months in prison for a series of white-collar crimes involving fraud. As a Democrat he represented Iowa's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives for two terms, from 1973 to 1977.
Six months into his first term in Congress, Mezvinsky separated from his wife of ten years; they were divorced two weeks after his 1974 re-election. During his final term he married Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, a television journalist. After his 1976 defeat, they relocated to suburban Philadelphia. Together, they raised eleven children, several of whom were adopted.
After serving in Congress, Mezvinsky worked at the United Nations Commission on Human Rights until 1979. Mezvinsky unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for United States Senate from Pennsylvania in 1980, losing to Peter F. Flaherty. He then became chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee before making a failed run for state attorney general in 1988. He won the Democratic primary, but lost to Republican Ernie Preate in the general election. He also unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in 1990, losing to incumbent Mark Singel.
What do you want to bet that the Clintons don’t pick up the tab for the nuptuals.
I’m sure they’ll find some sycophant to offer their home for the wedding. Last we heard (this past summer) it was going to be Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson.
My bet is on Vernon Jordan. They all have homes on the Clinton’s favorite playground...Martha’s Vineyard.
Agreed. I was just looking at this article and the two main individuals. AlGore gets enough press without adding him here.
Chelsea is the daughter of the Secretary of State, with access to lots of information that would be very profitable for her new son-in-law.

OH, she’ll be useful to him in his *work*, no doubt about that.
I figure he’ll be working late a lot too...
Fantastic piece of info! Who knew the Clinton Associates went this far and wide?
Daughter of crooks marrying the son of crooks. How sweet. I bet we don’t hear about his father during all the hoopla from the media over Chelsea getting married. You know you would hear it if he was a Republican.
All three of Al Gore’s daughters were married. Kristen, the middle daughter, did just divorce her husband after three years of marriage. The eldest, Karenna, is married into the wealthy Schiff family and has produced several grandchildren.
I thought one was married but didn’t know the others were. Sorry about the divorce. dont’ like Gore but his kids are not him.
I won’t be able to make it. A loving family member of my own is getting married and it’s way more important but I didn’t feel the need to put it in the headlines.
Sounds like a poor match. Chelsea must have been desperate.
