Exactly Star Traveler! If the kind of crap they pull into the yard (we live on mountain and they roam acres of forests in the day) hasn’t killed them, some processed deer meat won’t hurt.

Heck, just the other day I was asking what died in our yard only to find a deer leg they had been nawing on. An entire leg! Hair, hoof and all! And good LORD at the smell!

I have a golden and this time of year he always brings home deer organs and puts them near my front door. They are rotten and nasty and I know he ate some before sharing it with me. He some times throws it back up (lovely I know) but does not have any health problems from it.

It is not hunting season yet but a neighbor does it anyway. He guts it and leaves the rest in the woods.

I am learning about deer anatomy though.

OH, my old black Lab brought home a deer leg once. Whew, what a stink! Pretty bad to walk out the door at 6am and find that laying on the walkway!
