There isn't a human being on the planet that is immune to the addictive pull of narcotics that strong either.
I was prescribed them when I had the shingles Knowing their addictive nature from stories about Farve I gutted out the pain as long as possible each day and survived just taking one a day and tylenol instead of every 6 hours --I DIDN'T get addicted

What and for how long? Did you feel any desire to keep taking it that you had to suppress?

I also note that you didn’t take them as prescribed, 1X per day instead of 4X per day (you didn’t say how many each time was prescribed). You also say you “gutted it out” meaning you accepted some physical suffering that the doctor had given you tacit permission to alleviate. Not everyone tolerates pain the same nor thinks about the potential of taking the prescribed dose. Some people trust the authority of doctors without question.
