I love one argument they have against nuclear. IIRC it was Gore who said no nuclear plants have been built since the 70s as some kind of justification for calling nuclear power a failure. They ignore that it’s the environmentalists and government regulators who have prevented new plants in the first place.

I’m all for nuclear but think we need some serious political changes first. The last thing we need is these nutjob democrats placing their people in positions of power within the nuclear industry.

At Chernobyl, high ranking incompetents held their positions not because they were capable but because they were politically connected. Guys who actually knew how to run a nuclear plant held lower ranks and were often afraid to speak up about problems out of a fear of retribution.

Can you imagine Obama doing with the nuclear energy industry what he’s done with GM and Chrysler?

Happening on Peanut Carter's watch. My Dad told me there were around 14 nuke plants in the planning stages or at some level of construction that were stopped cold, 3-4 of which were on the west coast up in the Oregon-Washington state area and would have been in a position to sell power to California. But no, the green commies got their way and here we are today. You can't even propose building a plant - any kind of plant - these days without enviro-commies coming out of the woodwork, who don't even live in the area, with protests and lawsuits - even in Texas. To me that's not "environmentalism" or "local concern", that's enemy activity.
