Good for him! How many workers know they are being taken advantage of or lied to. The company knows they can squeeze you dry because you want to prove yourself for a permanent position. Functional keys? That wasn’t his point - he got his message across just fine. And I do believe, he paved the way for the next temp employee to be treated fairly. Because he didn’t play the game like the majority do - I give him an A+. May it be a teachable moment for THE COMPANY!
NOTICE!!!???!!! for quitting a job???? the only notice i ever gave was when they noticed me wheeling my tools out the door....
The whole ‘notice’ thing is BS, IMO. RIF’d at two companies in the past 10 years, I’ve come to believe that I owe them the same as they provided to me...nothing. I understand the economy was tanking. And, I understand the business was troubled. BUT, the talking heads in charge NEVER even made an attempt to communicate with the mid management staff (my group), or anyone else. It was absolute BS, in both instances. For all the preaching from HR about ‘quit us the right way’ or ‘leave on good terms’, they have no compunction about just cutting folks loose, with no notice, nothing.
Daddy always said, “What’s sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander.” Sound advice, I do believe.
Nothing tops the story of the worker who showed up at work in a clown costume the day he was to be laid off. When he got called in to get his pink slip, the HR people couldn’t stop laughing.
