Actually, I thought the Mormon assets would be far greater. If it is true that the LDS assets are a mere $25 to 30 billion, then I am NOT impressed!
Let's put this in perspective.
Harvard has an endowment of $35 billion. Harvard's assets would be much, much greater than the Mormon church if the buildings and all other property of Harvard were included in its total assets. This is merely **one** of our nation's universities.
There are a number of universities ( private and government) with endowments in the multi-billions and if their total property were counted, I would expect that the assets of many **individual** universities exceed the assets of the Mormon church.
that is the number for the “Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints”, where tithing and such is paid.
It does not include vast real estate holdings and all of the other businesses the LDS church owns under dummy corps.
Check out the book “the Mormon Corporate empire”, a little out of date but still good.
Also, since the increased use of the internet, they are losing members in droves, esp the ones here in the US. Most of their converts are from smaller, much poorer countries and this has taken a HUGE toll on their tithing income.
