That's not a universal condition of Catholics. It was the Catholics that I grew up with that is one of the reasons I left the Catholic church.
Besides, the Catholic Church does not trace its roots back to Christ himself. The beginnings of the Catholic Church are only traced back to mid 300's AD when Christianity was made the official religion of the Roman Empire by Constantine.
The Catholic Church does trace its roots back to Christ. It is the only Church started by Christ HImself and He promised He would send the Holy Spirit to guide it forever. I believe Christ keeps His promises and that the Catholic Church is the one, true, Apostolic Church.
Individual Catholics are not perfect and sometimes do great harm. Recall that even St. Peter was pretty flawed. Yet Christ selected him, despite all his weaknesses and flaws, to lead the Church. He had something Christ wanted.
If you were raised Catholic, you may have had poor example or poor training in the faith. I invite you to re-visit Catholicism as a mature adult. If you read books by Madrid or Hahn, you will find many amazing points about the Truth of the Catholic Church. God bless you.
