What strikes me about these photos is the reaction of the Indian Prime Minister’s wife. She looks uncomfortable and disapproving, if not offended by Michelle Obama. Mrs. Singh looks like she is pulling away from Michelle. I don’t think Michelle Obama is very schooled in protocol or anything that is not about her, so it’s not surprising that she offends the corps diplomatique. (Remember her pitch at the Olympics?)
