It's easy to understand musician Dhani Harrison's antipathy toward the general concept of being in a rock band. After all, he got loads of priceless firsthand information from his father about the ups and downsides of making it to the absolute peak of pop music success during his tenure with the Beatles.
It was George Harrison who famously said, "The biggest break in my career was getting into the Beatles in 1962. The second biggest break since then is getting out of them." He also once observed that "I wanted to be successful, not famous..."
It's a group that includes Julian and Sean Lennon, drummers Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) and Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin's John Bonham), singer-songwriters Harper Simon (son of Paul Simon) and Ben Taylor (son of James Taylor and Carly Simon).
"I hate bands," Harrison, 31, said recently in the confines of the office he's setting up in a Santa Monica business park. "I'm never being in a band ever again."
So, what does he call Thenewno2, an ensemble of musicians he started with his friend Oli Hecks that will be the opening act tonight for Wolfmother's show at the Wiltern?
"It's a good hang," he said, flashing a smile uncannily like his father's. He's also got his dad's fine features, dark brown hair and quick sense of humor...

I must have terrible taste in music. I loved “This Diamond Ring” and “Save Your Heart for Me”. I think I can still remember all the words. Sad, isn’t it?
Sadly, Dino crashed his jet fighter into the side of a mountain. Strange lives, strange ends. I heard Dean Martin never was the same after losing Dino.
He looks like his dad.
George Harrison was always my favorite Beatle.

For those who may not be “Prisoner” fans, his band’s name is short for “The New Number Two”
Sad but true. They say it broke Dean’s heart and he was totally devastated until he the day he died.
The Rutles (on the second album) had a cut with the Lennonesque member reating "Number 2 Number 2 Number 2..."
Do they cover the songs of this band?
Why would they want to, considering that band a) wasn't all that great; and, b) were themselves covering stuff from way better people for the most part? (You haven't lived until you've heard Dino, Desi, and Billy massacre the Kinks' "A Well Respected Man" . . . ok, so it isn't as horrible as "Senator Bobby" covering "Wild Thing" but it's close enough . . .)

Not sad at all. Those are great songs.
Bill Hinsche went on to be a long time side musician in the Beach Boys backing band. In fact, his sister Annie was once married to the late Carl Wilson.
What about John Kerry's hit?
Couldn't be. The real Lurch could carry a tune. Sort of. ;)
