This guy is a GREAT singer. ANd I mean a world-class singer
if you’ve heard stuff he was doing in musicals even 5-7 years ago, and putting that together with EVERYTHING he did on Idol,I don’t know how anyone could not be in awe of his talents. It would truly be a shame to popular music if his talents weren’t given their due, but if the AMA show is any indication, it’s his dubious taste that might do him in.
I haven’t anticipated witnessing the post-Idol career of anyone Idol contestant more than Adam Lambert’s: it’s an amazing thing to see total unknowns like Kelly Clarkson, Tamyra Gray, Bo Bice,Carrie Underwood, the two Davids, Carly Smithson, and best of all last year, Alison Iraheta get up there week after week and blow you away. The best ones get some kind of recording careers, but TO A MAN, (or woman) they’ve all been put into totally commercial directions, and the “thrill is gone”, to a large extent. This would of course be the natural direction a performer would go after anyway, but not a single one of them can recapture the magic they left behind when they were under so much pressure on that show. Adam Lambert out of all these, is in a class by himself, and I dearly hope he sheds this over-the-top act he did on the awards show, (which I only watched the last 5 minutes of because I knew he’d be on it)
He doesn’t need it. and his vocals ,for the first time I’ve ever seen, were all over the place, because the song and the staging were also all over the place.
I wasn't terribly impressed with him on the singing contest show ... and that puke he did last night was of negative value.
Do you get paid by the word?
Internet flunkies don’t make much money nowadays, but —what the hell— it’s a job.
Couldn’t agree more...he thinks he needs this far more than he actually does. Then again, look at the field he’s competing on. Making a spectacle of yourself is practically a requirement to being “taken seriously” in pop music nowadays. “Too safe” = unmarketable to teenagers, no matter how talented you are.
