I’m really sorry to hear that a neighboring mosque causes you that much discomfort and I really hope the Muslims in your area work to help alleviate that discomfort.
Also I think you have a few misconceptions about the Eid holiday. While it is true every family is required to slaughter or fund for the slaughtering of an animal, the meat HAS to be distributed out to the poor and needy. And what the other individual posted from Wikipedia is also true, the sacrifice is in commemoration of the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, something that the other Abrahamic religions recognize. So we do not sacrifice these animals just for sport and as a holiday cheer but we do it to remember those less fortunate.
