Biohazard?
Take ‘em to court. If it’s not a listed warranty voiding excuse, they can’t just make that crap up on the fly.
The term “biohazard” being used is indeed silly. It means an infectious or toxic substance derived from an organism. Usually refers to something that will cause a specific disease, such as a bacterium or virus (biological not computer).

That said, I would assume most warranties have some wording about being void if the items is used under extreme enough conditions.
As others have pointed out, tobacco smoke in sufficient volume generates a sticky goo that is extraordinarily difficult to remove. I would assume it can cause physical damage to parts as well as retain fibers and dust, blocking ventilation.
But the idea that it’s a significant health hazard to techs is just stupid. Tobacco smoke residue isn’t notably different from the residue from any other type of smoke, none of which is particularly good for you. The only reason tobacco smoke is so bad for the health is that we don’t intentionally breathe in equivalent volumes of other types of smoke. Even heavy pot smokers don’t smoke as much as a cigarette chain smoker.
My computer is Green. So neener.
Huh? Warranties honored? Apples don't need service I thought. The warranties have always been honored.
You have them confused by another high-quality manufacturer, Rolls Royce. The story was that someone in Europe, I think Switzerland, was driving a Rolls in the mountains and managed to break an axle. Took it in for repair at a dealer. When it was fixed he asked for the bill and was told, "Rolls Royce axles don't break."On a thread a good while back, someone made the opposite point by saying that Apples must be unreliable because there was always someone bringing a Mac in for repair at his local Apple Store. Well, duh! - what else would you do if the hard drive goes south, but take it to the manufacturer's service center located at the same retail outlet where you might have bought it in the first place?
Any kind of problem a computer is prone to, a Mac could have - it's just that there's no finger pointing between the box manufacturer and the OS manufacturer when the same people are responsible for both. Which is something that Microsoft might actually emulate in their new stores (emulating the Apple Stores, of course). Recent article said that Microsoft is taking the manufacturer-installed junk software off the boxes they're selling in their stores - so when you turn the systems on, they actually boot up the same day.
That's why there's no smokin' (or carpets) in the computer room!
Looks like there’s a single source for this ridiculous claim, no names, no dates, no locations, no nothin’, and a Google search showed it just cropped up and went viral in the past few days. Reeks of feces, no credibility. Saddle on to this and ride out, Apple haters and Jobs bashers.
I plan to buy a new one right after Thanksgiving and hand this one down to one of my daughters.
btt
The only arrogant liberal violation here will be the damned Class Action lawyers getting rich while us Mac users receive $5 coupons. I’ve quit smoking for over 10 years, so as for the morons who continue to stand immediately outside the storefronts here in NYC (having paid almost $10 a pack) making me smell like an ashtray as I exit or pass by I hope you’re the first victims of the impending health care rationing!!!!!!
