This is why one builds one’s own computer at sites like pricewatch.com or newegg.com. Here you choose exactly what components you want and what software comes on the pc if any.
Buying a sony or a dell or any name brand pc is a store is an absolute waste of money. You will pay next year’s prices for last year’s gear, and you will get loads and loads of useless software that will never be employed.
I agree. I've been building my PCs for years. I think many folks are unecessarily intimidated. It's pretty easy. Especially with NewEgg, a great company (no affiliation).
I built my own computer using a Post-It note, a paperclip, and a package of Top Ramen. My OS uses only 3 lines of code.
FALSE. I've built 3 frankenputers from scratch. The reality is you can't compete with the tremendous price break gets on their individual components. They or their suppliers buy motherboards, RAM, Processor, chips, power supplies etc by the train car load, and that massive purchasing power with a volume discount, overcomes any advantage you get from providing free labor.
I still enjoy building computers but I don't believe it's cheaper.
Agree. I have made several computers and they are much faster and last so much longer than those off the shelf. My first computer I made has a P4, 2.4 and still runs like a champ 5 years later. If something goes wrong, big deal, pull and plug.
