I agree, but if it’s single moms only. In my experience, servicewomen with children will use them to get out of just about everything.
Hate to be an old poop about this but, in reading this article, I see no mention of a father. Seems to be a lot of this going around these days.
Single moms or if one parent is already deployed. There are families that have both parents out there.

During my 40 years in the workforce, it’s been my experience that about 90% of ALL women use their children to “get out of just about everything”.
Happens all the time. When I was active duty, it used to piss me off how people were given an entire day of special liberty to take their spouse to the doctor or some concocted pseudo-crisis at home. Sure must be nice to be home at 10 AM chillin’ in front of the TV while other people are doing your work. I was a single guy, I didn’t rate having personal problems or luxuries like the occasional Christmas/Thanksgiving off.
