fyi
For the real price collapse, wait until February.
I’ve been looking at a 55-inch LCD, with an LED backlight (instead of fluorescent backlight). However, I doubt it’s going to be deeply discounted.
I’m waiting for the post holiday sales around the first of the year to hopefully find a 40 inch or bigger for under $700.
I’ve been holding out for a while. My 32” CRT works just fine.
But get a 42” LCD under $400, and I could be swayed
There’s talk in California of outlawing retail sales of big screen TVs.
So, um, what size would constitute ‘big screen?’ 46” ?? or 52 “???? Surely not 32!
I had to go look....in October of ‘06 we got our first LCD; a 32 inch Sony Bravia - $1350.00 at Circuit City.
any opinions?
A high-def flatscreen is tempting, but my 36” Sony XBR tube weighs 234 pounds and I *really* don’t feel like moving it downstairs and out. Ten years ago it was torture enough getting it upstairs.
What I'd really like to see is a battery operated HDTV for use after a hurricane. The digital conversion turned all battery operated analog sets into junk.
I’ve been looking for a 13-17 inch wall mount for my office. I was thinking of waiting till after Christmas and watching Ebay or Craigslist. Anyone got any better ideas?
The companies are dumping their LCD’s because people (like me) are buying LED’s.
My wife won’t allow anything in the bedroom which has the word “flat” in it.
That's around the price of a framed painting of similar size. Look for HDTVs to start replacing wall art. With 2D infrared sensors like a Wii it could a) create a window effect, moving the foreground faster, b) turn off when no one is around, and c) serve as a sensor for a burglar alarm. The HDTVs could use cell phone technology to download new pictures from an internet service.
